District collector of Krishnakiri District stopped the road work on the banks of Ramanayakkan Eri, as the road project as is where it is now, shrinks the water body.
As several public and people who work for social causes proposed to the district administration, in particular to the District Collector to make changes in the road project, so that the Eri is not disturbed.

District Collector disclosed the stopping of Eri Road work in a Telegram Group
The Eri was man made during 16 th century by a Land Lord named Ramanayakkan with an aim to provide water for irrigation in and around Murasu Naadu and Chevida Naadu – the names that were for the present day Hosur.
According to data available in Salem Gazette, area of the Eri is 22 acres.
Now, the Eri is shrink by state sponsored encroachments that includes Hosur Ring Road, Children park area, Rose Path, Washer-man area etc.,
The main drainage channel called as Raja Kaalvaai is fully encroached and few encroachers have managed to get Patta for the encroached water way by bribing Vattatchiyars.
Though the present road expansion work is on progress for more than a month, District Collector on 30th March 2019, through oral instruction, ordered stopping of further work on the site.
The present road expansion work is being constructed by a close relative of Edapadi Palani Chami, present CM of Tamil Nadu.
In a response in Telegram Group, District Collector himself have disclosed and detailed about stopping Ramanayakkan Eri road work.
Having screen shot of the same, press reporters approached the Kottaatchiyar of Hosur Nirmal Rajan to get further confirmation from him as construction workers were found doing construction work even on 20th April 2019.
Kottaatchiyar too orally confirmed that the road project is temporarily postponed by collector’s instruction.
