Elephants in Hosur may knock your house door seeking drinking water, as your fellow humans have encroached water bodies, blocked water channels to lakes, looted money allocated to provide water and food for these pachyderms in their living area!!!
Though enough funds are being allocated by Tamil Nadu government to the forest department of Hosur to provide food and water, official lethargy and money being put into officials own pockets have left forest area dry with no drinking water and food.
Elephants in Hosur
As on date, about 20 elephants are roaming around Athimugam area in search of drinking water and food.
While during day time they remain in deep forest, at night they come out to village areas in search of water and food.
The elephants in Hosur have split into small groups and are roaming around Hosur to fill their stomach and cool their throat.
According to forest officials, the jumbos are now found in Athimukam and Chaanamaavu forest areas.
People are warned to remain careful during night time, as the darkness will hide them completely and people might be stamped by the jumbos.
